WIN - Frankfurt Mission Update (June 2009- May 2010)

Saturday, May 29, 2010

WIN Frankfurt is pleased to report:

In June, Bro. Ray An Fuentes conducted a ministry weekend in Frankfurt. He held a concert in the middle of the city, and had an audience of 300 people to hear the Gospel through his songs and life testimony. He also taught a seminar on Financial Stewardship and preached on Sunday at WIN Frankfurt. It was a blessed and a fruitful ministry. A few members were added to the church through these events.

In July, we held our annual Church Family Day. We had the Pantojas visiting us, and Sis. Malu was our guest speaker during the Family Day and Sunday Service. The Pantojas have been a great blessing to WIN Frankfurt and Europe since they arrived in Switzerland.

Noteworthy is the growth of support for our Seeds of Hope from mostly external donors. We have received donations from a German company to continually support SOH projects in the Philippines and our orphanage in Mombasa, Kenya. Recently, WIN Goeppingen and Hamburg has joined us in sponsoring children in the Philippines.

Our women’s ministry, WINGS (Women in God’s Service), under the leadership of Sis. Sacel Bernardo and Sis. Precy Ward, has been very helpful in ministering to our women by organizing projects, counseling and fellowships. Our recently held, Mother’s Day Celebration last May 9, 2010 was a great blessing to many mothers.

In August, we held our first WINKidz Camp in Limburg, 120 kms from Frankfurt. It was a great time for the kids to build their own tents and sleep outside. The games, teachings and other outdoor activities brought a lot of fun and adventure for all of them. They are excited for the next camp this coming July 2010.

God has allowed us also to formally organize our first Church Council last September 2009. We have elected 4 council members from our ministry heads to help me oversee the church. Since then, their valuable help is a big blessing to the church.

In December, as usual we had our Christmas Celebration. It was very well attended. We had our different ministries presented their special numbers. This event has brought new visitors to our regular Sunday Service.

The entry of the new year, 2010 had brought a fresh realization for many of their freedom in Christ through attending the Freedom in Christ (FIC) Seminar from Neil Anderson’s Ministry. For the first batch in January, we have 20 persons finished the course. We have recently started our second batch this year. Pastor Ric and Sis. Malu Pantoja recommended this material to us.

And as part of our theme this year on Evangelism, we have invited Pastor Rodney Friend from the European Theological Seminary to conduct a three-day seminar on Evangelism. Our brethren were blessed and encouraged to involve more in the Great Commission.

Very recently, we have been blessed to hold our 2nd WIN Germany Family Camp, involving our three churches (Hamburg, Goeppingen and Frankfurt) last Easter Holidays. It was great time of God’s salvation, healing and empowering. We praise the Lord for the beautiful time He has given us to strengthen also the relationships of our three churches.

In all these things, we also recognize that there we setbacks we experienced like a few people left the church because of relationship problems. We recognize also our continuing need of more workers in many ministries and our desire to have more younger people in the church.

Prayer Needs:

More committed workers in the different ministries.

More children and youth to come in the church.

Spiritual and numerical growth of the church.

Establishment of a counseling ministry to minister to the hurting.

More leaders to be developed.

Strengthening of our couples and parenting ministries.

More external donors to our Seeds of Hope Ministry.

Other pastors to rise up.

Update from Bangkok

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

Dear Pastor Edward,

Thank you so much for remembering us in your prayers.

But we, together with the Thai church and Filipino friends here, also continue to pray and intercede for Bangkok and their leaders.

For now, we hold prayer meetings and our small group gatherings sa church muna para iwasan question sa mga kapitbahay. Okey lang naman magtravel from here to church kasi di naman malayo.

Pagbalik namin ng Bangkok yesterday, we were greeted with so many check points sa hi-ways papasok ng Bangkok. And yesterday morning, Edsel was told na nausog ang start ng klase sa Bangkok for another week.

Gen 3:20 (NKJV)

And Adam called his wife's name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.

Happy Mothers’ Day to ALL!

I just came back from the Philippines last Monday May 10, 2010. I was able to see my mother again. For Mother’s day I gave my mother a wheel chair. She was happy to have a wheelchair to help her move around. She is not as strong as she used to be but otherwise healthy for her age. Although my mother is already 81 years old, she was sweet enough to come with me to the airport to wish me farewell. Her name is Salud which in Spanish means “Health.” True to her name, by the goodness of God, she remains healthy and strong though she feels lazy to go out of the house nowadays. Yet she decided to come with me to see me off. God bless her soul. God gave her wisdom to live a healthy sensible life free from vices and diseases. She doesn’t smoke, drink or indulge in fleshly pleasures. She was the one who gave me her advice on not going to the pawnshop which according to her own words would bring a curse to anyone. I listened to her words and true enough, I was able to live a debt free life free from any financial curse.

Where would we all be without mothers? Eve was created to be the mother of all living. The Hebrew name for Eve is חוּה chavvâh (khav-vaw) which means life giver. God is ultimately the true Life Give yet our Heavenly Father shared His Life Giving Power to the woman. In one way, we owe our lives to our mothers. They took good care of us that today we live to know Jesus our life giver. If we were not born, we wouldn’t be born again and get to know God personally.

God has a great purpose for motherhood in His plan to create a people unto Himself. Mothers are His co-creators to form a Bride fit for His Son Jesus. Even Jesus needed a human mother just to be born into this sinful world so that He could die someday on the cross for our sins. This is why mothers are important to Him and to us as well. Let us honour our mothers in obedience to the 5th Commandment:

Exodus 20:12 (NKJV)

"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.

My mother honoured my grandmother with a life that is worthy of praise and respect. She may be old fashioned but she is a virtuous woman of character. This is why she lives a beautiful age of 81. I pray that all mothers live godly lives worthy of our love. God bless all you mothers out there. God wants you to be partners with Him in creating a chosen generation, a holy priesthood, a special nation called out of darkness into His marvelous light to show forth His praise!

My mother at 81

To my Mama Sally (this is why I named my daughter after her). I love you so much!

Your bunso, Edward

The wedding of Elmer and Shella was even more glorious. God was there and the people were glad when they heard the Good news of salvation during the ceremony. It was the best worship wedding I have ever conducted. Many from WIN- Al Ain including Ps Audie and family were there to witness this glorious event.

Sis. Shella and Bro. Elmer during their wedding at CDO

Over all we enjoyed our stay in CDO. It was well worth the trip. We thank all of those who prayed with us. May the Lord reward you for your intercessions.
Thank you Lord for being good to our brethren in CDO. They are still hungry and thirsty for more of God's presence that they want us back next month for the WIN - CDO Church anniversary! May the Lord's will be done! To Him be all the praise! Amen
