HAPPY FATHER’S DAY MESSAGE JUNE 18, 2010

Psalms 127:1-5 (NKJV)

Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late,
To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep.
3 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth. 5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

As my family and I prepares to fly to Hong Kong and Philippines, we would like to greet every father as blessed Happy Father’s Day. May the Lord strengthen your fatherhood as you lead your family unto the coming Kingdom.

3 TIPS ON HOW TO BE AN EFFECTIVE FATHER

Psalms 127:1-5 (NKJV)

1) Let the Lord build your house. You are not alone (Verse 1)

1 Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.

Remember that the Lord is ultimately the head of the family. You just represent the Father in Heaven in your homes. If you worry about being a good father, just be one with God who is always a good Father to all. Being a successful father is not about you, your personality or abilities, but being one with God’s Fatherly Spirit to be the spiritual prophet, priest and king in your homes.

2) Relax and have adequate sleep. (Verse 2)

2 It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep.

You try your best to be a good breadwinner, remember that the Father feeds the birds of the air, yet the birds do not fret nor worry, neither do they toil:

Matt 6:25-26 (NKJV)

Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 "Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

If you do not have faith (Heb 11:6), it is useless to spend overtime over work or rise up early to provide for your family. Working hard may appear noble and good but if you are drawing from your own strength, you will eventually suffer from stress that would lead to physical, mental, emotional illness. Just get enough rest and trust the Lord will take care of you.

3) Having many children is not a burden but a blessing (Verses 3 – 5)

3 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth. 5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

The economy of the Kingdom of God is not the same as the economy of the world we live in. If we use the world’s standard on how to live, then having many children would make you feel poor and needy. If we are walking by faith and not by sight, at the same time applying Kingdom principles from the Word of God, we should not feel sad but joyful because having many children is a great reward according to Ps 127: 3. Sadly we choose to think like the unbelievers and lean on our own understanding on how to manage our finances.

We have a Father in heaven who will provide for all our needs if we trust Him with all our heart. Begin to have Kingdom Living Attitudes and see that the Lord is the wise master builder.

At the end of the day, as we celebrate Father’s Day, we also celebrate the Fatherhood of God Almighty over us. This is HIS DAY that He has made, let us rejoice and be glad! (Ps 118:24).

May God bless all the fathers.
